Odin Works Adjustable AR-15 Heavy Buffer System — 7 Weights · Built for Forced Reset Triggers
CURRENTLY THESE ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR A BIT WHILE ODIN WORKS GETS THEIR MANUFACTURING CAUGHT UP. OUR ORDERS SHOULD BE RECIEVED AND FULLFILLED IN JUNE
If you're running a forced reset trigger or a Super Safety selector system on your AR-15, your buffer weight isn't optional — it's the difference between a rifle that cycles clean every time and one that short-strokes, fails to reset, or beats itself apart. The Odin Works Adjustable AR-15 Heavy Buffer System gives you seven tungsten carbide weights and the ability to dial in the exact buffer weight your build demands. One buffer. Seven configurations. 100% American made in Southern Idaho.
An FRT like the Triggered Company Disruptor or the AS Designs ARC-Fire V2 uses your BCG's rearward travel to mechanically reset the trigger after every shot. If your buffer is too light, the BCG cycles back too fast — the trigger can't reset cleanly and you get failures. H2 minimum. H3 recommended. The Odin Works Adjustable system gets you there precisely — and lets you fine-tune from there.
What You Get
7 Adjustable Carbide Weights
- ◆Seven tungsten carbide weights — the heaviest, most durable weight material available for AR-15 buffer systems. Carbide outlasts steel and bismuth on every metric.
- ◆Full adjustability — configure your buffer from light competition weight all the way to heavy FRT-optimized weight. Every combination is field-adjustable without tools.
- ◆Purpose-built for forced reset triggers — engineered with the Disruptor FRT, ARC-Fire V2, and all other AR-15 FRT platforms in mind. Dial to H2 or H3 equivalent with precision.
- ◆Super Safety compatible — the Hoffman Tactical Super Safety selector system is the most buffer-sensitive forced reset system on the market. The Odin Works adjustable system eliminates buffer as a variable entirely.
- ◆100% American made — manufactured by Odin Works in Southern Idaho. Not assembled overseas. Not a rebrand. Built in the USA by one of the most respected AR-15 component manufacturers in the country.
- ◆Mil-spec carbine buffer tube compatible — fits any standard mil-spec AR-15 lower. No modification required. Drop-in installation.
- ◆Recoil management — heavier buffer weight also means measurably reduced felt recoil and muzzle rise, giving you faster follow-up shots on top of reliable FRT function.
The 7 Weight System
Dial Your Exact Weight
Add or remove carbide weights to hit the exact buffer weight your build requires. Each weight configuration changes the cycling characteristics of your AR-15 — lighter for competition and standard semi-auto, heavier for forced reset triggers and Super Safeties.
For forced reset triggers on carbine-length builds (16" or shorter) — start at 5 or 6 weights (H2.5–H3 equivalent) and tune from there. For pistol-length builds or suppressed configurations — use all 7. For Super Safety selector systems — start at 6 weights. The Odin Works adjustable system lets you find your rifle's exact sweet spot without buying multiple fixed-weight buffers.
The Forced Reset Trigger Buffer Rule
A forced reset trigger is mechanically different from any standard AR-15 trigger. Where a standard semi-auto trigger resets when you release trigger pressure, a forced reset trigger uses the rearward travel of the bolt carrier group to physically push the trigger forward and reset it. This means the BCG's speed and timing on the return stroke directly determines whether your forced reset trigger functions reliably.
Too light a buffer and the BCG comes back too fast — the forced reset trigger doesn't have time to complete its mechanical reset cycle. The result is short-stroking, failure to reset, or the dreaded doubling that happens when the BCG is moving faster than the trigger system can track. The fix is always the same: more buffer weight.
- ◆Disruptor FRT (The Triggered Company) — H2 minimum, H3 recommended on carbine-length builds. The Odin Works adjustable system covers this configuration at weight positions 4–6.
- ◆ARC-Fire V2 (AS Designs) — same H2/H3 requirement. The adjustable system's fine-tuning capability is especially useful for the ARC-Fire V2's ambidextrous safety variants which can have slightly different cycling characteristics.
- ◆Hoffman Tactical Super Safety — the Super Safety selector system is the most buffer-sensitive of all forced reset systems. The adjustable Odin Works buffer lets you find the exact weight where the Super Safety's cam timing is fully consistent.
- ◆All other AR-15 FRT platforms — the H2–H3 rule applies universally. Any forced reset trigger on a mil-spec AR-15 lower benefits from this adjustable system.

Why Odin Works
The Standard for AR-15 Buffer Systems
Every Odin Works product is manufactured in Southern Idaho. Not assembled overseas. Not a rebrand. 100% American-made precision components.
Tungsten carbide is the highest-density weight material available for buffer systems — heavier, harder, and more consistent than steel or bismuth alternatives.
The adjustable system was engineered with forced reset trigger builds in mind. Seven positions means you find your exact sweet spot — not just heavy enough.
Replace your entire fixed-weight buffer collection with one adjustable system. Works across carbine, mid-length, pistol, and suppressed configurations.
Builder Notes
Setting Up Your FRT Build
- 01Start heavier, tune down. When dialing in a forced reset trigger for the first time, begin with all 7 weights installed. Run 50 rounds. If cycling feels sluggish or the bolt doesn't fully return, remove one weight and repeat. Most FRT builds settle at positions 5–6.
- 02Gas system matters. Overgassed rifles can run lighter. Undergassed rifles need more weight. The adjustable system lets you compensate for both without swapping buffers.
- 03Suppressor users start at 7. Adding a suppressor significantly increases backpressure and bolt velocity. Start at full weight and tune from there.
- 04Super Safety users — position 6 first. The Super Safety selector system is highly buffer-sensitive. The cam timing that drives the selector's forced reset function depends on consistent BCG dwell time. Position 6 is the recommended starting point for most Super Safety builds.
- 05M16 BCG required for all FRTs. The adjustable buffer solves the weight side of the equation — you still need an M16-profile bolt carrier group for any forced reset trigger to function. If you don't have one, see the Disruptor FRT + BCG bundle.
